At some weddings the only thing that gets me through the day is a drink or two.0

I *hate* shortbread :rotfl: There will be none at our wedding, the food on arrival will be way more substantial! But I know lots of peeps who love it.
As for an Irish wedding without tea - unthinkable!!!!!!!! :rotfl:7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs

We're just having welcome drinks (Pimm's, well a close version "Austin's"), and the champagne to toast. Our venue have never had a wedding before, so I managed to convince them to let people bring drinks if they want to, (I'll take a few bottles of whiskey etc that I've been given recently) but also have a cash bar (for which we will choose the drinks)!
Got my champagne during the sale from M&S, and Austin's is not expensive, but I hear is a very good alternative to Pimm's.0 -
Thanks for all your advice. We have relented and have ordered welcome drinks and toasting wine. I'm afraid I simply couldn't afford the extra £500 for wine on the table so that will have to do! Just hoping my guests are understanding!! BTW I'm now really cross I've gone over budget!!! Prepare yourselves for any last minute things everyone!! Really didn't want any debt :-( oh well c'est la vie :-)
Thanks again xxxPreparing for arrival of baby by clearing out the debts...:p0 -
Glad to hear that you managed to make a decision, it's hard not knowing what the right thing to do is.
We are probably quite lucky that we are only having a small meal so the plan is to provide a welcome drink - pimms or similar for everyone, a glass of fizz for the toast but rather than wine (which most of us don't really like) we are planning on putting around £300 behind the bar so that guests can have their preferred tipple, I think quite a few will be drinking soft drinks as they will be driving or looking after children anyway but I worked on a max of £10 per head - ie two drinks each and I am hoping that will be enough
Very happily married on 10th April 2013
