Ideas for stylish ways to store logs near the fireplace.

  • We drop old hardwood window frames off at a guys with a log burner when we take them out he just has a log basket for show . Timber merchants will either let you have or sell bags of kindling and bigger

    OP, Get on ARB Talk and get into the firewood directory for GOOD local suppliers of wood to you! Swerve all the national companies like certainly wood!

    On another note, we just keep ours in a wicker basket

    The neatest thing I've seen is just an open-fronted cupboard to stack the logs in, or get a BIG wicker basket.

    It's always useful to keep several days wood in the house. Partly, that's so you don't have to go out in the rain when you run out, but also because it helps the surface of the logs to dry if they've been made damp by drizzle.

    Commercial firewood should be seasoned when you get it, but you may well find it burns better if left in the log store for a further year. Most woods will burn OK after a year, but better after two.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
