expanded dashboards

Can I please urge sellers to make a habit of checking their expanded seller dashboard. A colleague of mine has just checked purely because her stuff wasn't appearing very high in Best Match (and wasn't visible at all when viewing from a phone) and found out she has slipped to below standard due to a mere handful of 1 and 2 stars for post and packing. (I believe she has 5 in p and p and 2 in both despatch and item description)

She says she hadn't seen any emails from ebay (although she has now found one in her messages that she believes she merely scanned over meaning to go back to it when she got home from work- and forgot).

The problem she has now is that not noticing it in time means she is going to struggle to recover. She says because she always stayed on about 4.8 - 4.9 for all her stars she never realised there might be something going on in the background.

So please, at least once a week lets all check our expanded dashboards.

    i check mine almost daily.

i'm sitting at above standard, stars all over 4.9 and i'm being hit with a 21 day paypal hold on my payments. meaning i'm losing money hand over fist posting abroad (haven't had a UK sale in weeks) where it's simply too expensive to post by air sure and where people aren't leaving feedback (i've learnt my lesson to start emailing around asking for feedback). I've got fees to pay on monday, a good few hundred quid in my paypal account and not penny one of it is available for payment, meaning it's going to have to come from my bank account, which has just enough money in it to cover the fees, but then none to feed myself.

thanks ebay, great way to treat consistently good sellers.
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

I tend to check my business one daily but less often for my private selling accounts. Like you I also keep running reports just to identify any trends , even a 4 * can throw me into a panic if I think it is a trend towards not getting the full 5* each time.

Going back to the person in the OP it looks like they have been restricted now, so a short time possibly until they get banned. I suspect it is because they are a low volume seller so they can't take the 1 and 2 * they have bene left- yet looking as a buyer at their account all you see is 100% positive with stars no lower than 4.8.

I further suspect the low stars are for 2 reasons, the items are mainly around £8-£10 and are sent 1st class recorded at a cost of £3.65 and seller charges £4.95 post and packing. So she is being hit for both generally overcharging a little plus sending recorded for a low value item.

It's taken me nearly a year to recover my Standard status after getting some low marks for P&P so your friend will have to work hard to gain back their rating.

Just an update as there are other threads about stars and limits etc on the boards at the moment.

My colleague is now restricted to a few items a month, she is showing as below standard and was not eligible to list for free in the last free listing weekend.

Unfortunately, as the 1 and 2 stars were clustered in the last 5 months it seems likely that once the positives from 12 months ago start to drop off the score, that her stars will get lower and lower based on the poor stars. Without being able to list in quantitiy she cannot really now hope to recover- and she also seems unable to close this account as it comes up with 'outstanding issues'

So, really fellow sellers, please watch your expanded dashboard- make a habit of checking it at least weekly if not more. if it starts to look poor, then do somehtign about it before you lose your account.

  • So I went to my ebay and clicked to go to my feedback page. I then went to my dashboard. Is this the expanded dashboard that you refer to? If not how do I get to it?

I've noticed that my P&P section has gone down from 4.8% to 4.7%. Not sure why as I only charge for what the postage costs me!! I don't charge for packing.

On Ebay go into Account, then Seller Dashboard. On the right you will see your Seller Performance Numbers. Under there it says See Your Reports. Log into that then run a report. From what you have said, it looks like you may have a low star for P & P.

I have been checking my DSR dashboard lately and noticed 1 star rating for P&P and 1 star for dispatch time. This points me straight to the first ever 'neutral' feedback I have received (stating 'Thanks') as every other item was free postage apart from this one in question which I charged the exact postage cost.

The item in question was purchased and paid for on Sat 2nd June. I packaged the item within 30 minutes and arranged for the courier to collect. This weekend was the Queens Jubilee so obviously the courier could not collect Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. The item was collected the first available date which was the Wednesday and delivered to Customer on the Saturday. Yet she has rated me 1 star for dispatch and P&P. Thankfully my ratings are still 4.9 and account status standard - high.

I have just spoke to eBay regarding the removal of the low rating and they are unwilling to remove the rating despite me proving the item was collected the first possible date after the bank holidays and I charged the exact P&P - because 'it does not fit in to the criteria for removal'.

It is very unfair that a buyer can maliciously damage another members DSR and eBay will not do anything about it. This member in question has very poor rating across her DSR (the worst I have seen), all 4.4 and below so it seems likely she is maliciously damaging other members DSR too.

Is there any way to see your dashboard before you have 10 detailed ratings? I must have 8 or 9 now and all positive but it's frustrating that I can't see my stars until the 10th feedback. Annoying as I've had no feedback for half a dozen items sold over the last 2 months.

No unfortunately. Not everyone rates the stars when leaving feedback either so the quickest way would probably be to offer free P&P on all items. That way - when a buyer leaves feedback you will automatically receive 5* rating for P&P charges.
