Selling used iPhone on eBAY

I've got a used 3GS - how can I maximise the selling price? Also I know i need to wipe it but what's the best way of doing this?

Any other tips welcome!

Have a look at iPhones on ebay and see what they tend to go for. See if a low starting price means a low ending price and/or if putting on a reserve makes a difference.

You can use iTunes (on a PC or Mac) to re-initialize the phone.

Personally if you are new to ebay ad selling higher end goods I would probably suggest you avoid selling the phone there and would try a recycling company or small ads (cash only) instead.

If you do use ebay you need all the usual protection, seller preferences set very tightly, no non UK buyers, a full understanding of your postage requirements for paypal purposes- your scam radar on for any didgy sounding questions. For a start read the sticky 'postage' thread on this board.

send by special delivery - nothing less.

only send to confirmed paypal addresses

as soolin says, set buyer requirements as tight as they'll go
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • Only allow cash on collection. Do not allow Paypal for collection especially on something like an iPhone.

This is why I would suggest the OP, if not a regular seller on ebay, avoids selling on ebay. You cannot insist on cash on collection, you cannot refuse paypal.

So, someone pays by paypal, OP refunds money and refuses to sell and OP gets stuck with lots of FVFs , a neg and low stars- and stioll has the phone.

If using ebay it is better to post out using special delivery but only after making sure all your seller preferences are set as tight as possible and all normal precautions like retaining a note of the IMEI . If someone then asks about collection you can say cash only, and if they refuse point them to your auction terms which say posting only.
