Cheap carpet - anyone bought online successfully ?

I'm not sure just how you buy online as you cannot feel or touch it but has anyone got a success story ?

Go to a local carpet shop where you can touch and feel the options. Note down the details of your preference.
Then make a few calls to internet suppliers or suppliers further away and get the best price you can. See if your local supplier will match the best quote you have - they invariably won't.
