Freehold / leasehold nightmare help pls

Hi All, First time post on behalf of my dad my DAD has received a letter in the post today from his freeholder - at present he pays 15.00 per year ground rent, he is the sole owner of the property which he bought back in 1973. I always assumed he had bought the freehold many years ago when he first bought the house back in…

Hi thanks for asking - Quick update

We have now employeed the services of a solicitor who is serving notice on the form 1 - bascially we dont really have a leg to stand on so we will need to rasie some cash to buy the freehold as the Landlord is never ever getting his hands on it. We just need to establish how much they are willing to charge. If its to much we will then take them to the tribunal - the solictor has stated he has had dealings with the land owner before i they are very ruthless. will keep this updated however if you no anybody that has a leasehold let them know that they need to act asap
