Sky plus and the remotes

Hi I upgraded to Sky+ recently and had one of those magic eye thingys in my daughters bedroom for which she had a sky remote to control but now that we have sky+ which has a different remote she can no longer control the Sky from her room.

Can anyone tell me will this remote be ok with Sky+, ie can we do something to make it work or does she have to have a Sky+ remote to be able to control Sky again? We are not so worried if she cannot control all the Sky+ features from her room but would just like that she can change channels as before.

Any help appreciated.

You need another Sky Plus remote for her to use in the bedroom - I have a magic eye and the same thing happened to us!

I'm a similar situation, having just upgraded to Sky Plus. I've did a bit of a Google search and found the following instructions which supposedly allow you to use a normal Sky remote to control Sky Plus:

    1. Press TV.
    2. Press and hold Select and Blue - the LED should flash twice
    3. Press 2.
    4. Press Select.
    5. Press Sky.

To change back use the same sequence but press 0 (or 1 - information varies) rather than 2.

I've not had chance to try it myself so can't comment on whether or not it works - some comments on other forums note that it won't give you full functionality but allows you to use the TV guide and change channel using the up and down keys.

Thanks NewMat, it works just fine, daughter is happy again, cheers.

I've changed my mind about that tweak, the facilities are too limited that it offers you. You cannot press a number, you have to actually go through the channels one by one. Also you can't skip through to see whats on soon or whats on, on other channels with the right arrow as usual either, so I am going to buy a Sky+ remote I think. Still it will do until then.
