providing you can get it fixed for a reasonable amount fair enough but really don't spend hundreds & hundreds on that boiler save up for a new one, halstead boilers are the worst boilers ever made.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I totally agree with Keith's post.

I had been tasked with looking after a Halstead Ace boiler until recently.

It was for a landlord via a letting agent. I must have been out to it at least once every 3-4 months in the past 2 years.

I kept advising the landlord to replace it as they are such carp, even though it was like a pension fund for me, to keep repairing it!

They finally got me to replace it about 3 weeks ago.

A final kick in the teeth was that I was given the go ahead to replace it and had booked it in for around 3 weeks later. Within 3 days of the go ahead, it broke down again, so muggins here had to work over a weekend to fit the new one to keep everyone happy :(

Yes I agree the boiler is ABSOLUTE carp but unfortunately we don't really have the money atm and we are thinking of moving in a couple of years so I don't really want to buy a new one unless I have to. I did that on my last place. I only got 4 months use out of it before my job changed and we had to move :(! I think we will try to get it cleaned as you suggested and I will try to find a decent plumber who is not going to rip me off.... the haystack seems so big and the needle so small!
Its the new spirotrap it was only fitted last autumn!

Hi: from WB 'Any water softening device installed must not be used to fill the primary water within the heating system.' More here.

Agreed, but scale is not likely on the primary side, it will be from the DHW secondary side!

:rotfl:I must also get in to the business of powerflushing, seems a lot of dosh to be made from all the system cleaning recommendations on here!
Still someones gotta earn an HONEST crust?
And how do all these fish get into the system in the 1st place, they must be mugs and having to work the weekends to get there? :rotfl:
