Asset payment protection

Hi I tried to claim my PPI back I was told I had one then put a complaint into the bank they told me I would have to wait about 8 weeks , I didnt hear anything so after the 8 weeks I rang them back to be told no I didnt have a PPI on the account. I asked them could they send me a copy of my agreement I have since received only to read it had an asset payment protection on it never heard of this anyone know what the difference is please my thanks for any info.:)

    The agreement may well have a clause about protection on it but unless you paid a premium there is nothing to claim back.
    Do you not have any old statements showing you paying anything?

    If you do not agree with their decision I would suggest you SAR them and wait to see what is on there before deciding on the next move.
  • many thanks for your reply but SAR??? I did enquire about copies of my statements but they said I had to pay for each individual copy

    A copy statement is different to a SAR (Subject Access Request - part of the data protection act that allows a subject to gain access to all the information held on them by and organisation for a maximum fee of £10 subject to the information being held in a structured way)

    With copy statements you get exactly what you previously had, neatly organised and printed on headed paper etc.

    With a SAR request you get a massive data dump which is a lot less user friendly but certainly sufficient for identifying payments etc.
