Free Parking Brighton

Does anyone know of any "free" Parking near the centre of Brighton? or has a parking space pls let me know

Have had a look and i think the best option is to park on a decent residential street and get the bus in,

Unless anyone else can advise:)

phil - "free" parking near the centre of Brighton is about as rare as the proverbial rocking-horse s**t.

Coupon is from the area I believe & may be along to give you some pointers. She supports Brighton & Hove Albion after all :eek: .

FWIW - I visit Brighton regularly from 'up North' & park in 'decent' residential streets off Court Farm Road, Hove (no restrictions) then catch the 5B bus into Brighton which drops you in Churchill Square right in the centre. It's about a 20 minute journey.

As Hadeon has mentioned, you have no chance of free parking anywhere near the centre. The car parks are horrabily expensive and the nice Green council here recently doubled on street parking charges.

You're best bet is to come into Brighton via the main A23 / London Road. You will go past Withdean Park on your left after about 1/2 a mile or so from the welcome to Brighton sign. You'll then go past another much smaller park on your left. Once past this you're rapidly heading towards parking control areas. Park up in any of the local residential streets in this area and catch a 5 or 5A bus from the London Road you were driving down. They both take you to the central shopping area and run about every 10 minutes during the day. Make sure you get an All Day Saver Ticket so you can hop on and off the buses as much as you like - it'll cost you about £4.

Thanks everyone. Yes I think that's best idea. Looked at google street view and the streets look good for leaving the car for a weekend.

You can park for free in a road behind Portslade station and then get the train in (train every 10 mins or so and takes 5-6 mins to Brighton station). I leave my car here for up to a week at a time when working in away in Leeds)

There is no free parking in Brighton and it is patrolled ruthlessly and paid parking is expensive.

Why not park right outside my house (in Brighton) and then go on holiday for two weeks so that I have to lug heavy musical equipment and shopping bags from way down the road?

My drive is so short you could barely get a Smart car on it!!

A bit of a design flaw there, but it was like that when I bought it.

The garage is full of old junk (who's isn't??)

Or same outside my house in...somewhere in West Sussex...! Only I haven't got any musical equipment. And I haven't got a drive.

I reckon all the suggestions so far are good for parking for a weekend. Or park in Holmes Avenue or Nevill Road Hove (both unrestricted) and get the bus in, along the Old Shoreham Road.

Oh, and if you were only parking for a few hours then a good place is Brighton Marina as it's free and a very nice walk along the seafront towards the Brighton Pier. Unless you fancy parking in a Supermarket car park for a bit longer than allowed...! There are two I can think of near enough to the town.
