I have dual fuel with British Gas and was on direct debit until they tried to raise the monthly payment from £35 to £70 i immediately cancelled my direct debit because when i contacted they told me the computers were faulty and the DD could not be changed. Is the DD the most cost effective .I have just recieved a bill online for £200 for Gas and £200 for electric from Jan to March this seems a bit steep for 2 people in semi.

seems pretty steep to me mikey. i have dual fuel with them too. i only pay 25 gas and 20 elec. that's for 2 people in a terrace. surely the fact that your in a semi can't make your bill that much more. I stick every appliance on under the sun and I don't get charged that. infact they just refunded me £90 on gas as I was in credit.
not trying to rub anything in, just thought it might help0 -
Your electricity seems very high - have you checked your bills to see if it is due to previous bills being under-estimated and the meter now having been read, resulting in the account correcting itself? Is there a balance carried forward from a previous bill, perhaps your dd was too low previously and arrears have been building up?
Also is your bill only for two months? Usually bills are issued every three months, and if indeed you did use £200 of gas and electric in just two months, £70 a month would be too low!0
