Hello shedmeister00
I'll move your thread to the 'House Buying' board, where it should get more responses.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Supermarkets and large stores? I know local Homebase has boxes at the exit to help people carry their shopping.Total Original Debt: £30404.24
Current debt: £18586.16
Total Paid: £11857.74 38.95% :T0 -
Not sure about free.... but if you know anybody else thats moved recently its worth asking about their boxes
WHat do people do with their boxes after they move anyways? throw them?
How much stuff do you have? You can hire a van if its a short distance and do it yourself. If you have alot of stuff, or a longer distance, I seriously consider the removalist option over DIY. My friends only moved around 5miles, but in the end they needed 2 vans to empty their place ready for completion. By the time they paid for everything, did all the work themselves, they were ready to admit removalists would have been similar cost and much less heartache!0 -
Agree with kingkano - for well under £1k, you'll find a good mover who'll pack, move, and unpack for you.
Having tried to do it myself on a number of occassions, its really really not worth the hassle0 -
If you do the packing yourself-
To get boxes:
1. Friends that have moved
2. Stores like Iceland will give you big boxes which have held things like crisps. Local stores i.e. off licences provide small boxes that have had beer in them which are good for heavy things like books
2. Freecycle- you have to go and collect them
3. Buy them- cheapest places are on the net like cardboard-!!!!!!. Self storage places and Argos sell them as well but are more expensive than buying them on the net even with P&P included. All these boxes are better quality than the free ones from supermarkets.
To get packing material i.e. bubble wrap
1. Freecycle - you have to go and collect them
2. Buy them office supply stores like Staples
3. Buy them on the internet is normally cheaper i.e cardboard-!!!!!!.
For example I paid £5 for 5 metres of corrugated paper (width 50cm) at a self storage place but from the net I got 75 metres (width 65cm) for about £18 with P&P.
To move in order of price (most expensive first) full removal company, use man and van services which have luton vans, or do it yourself with friends. If you are moving from a 1 or 2 bedroom house/flat a luton van will be adequate for all your stuff.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0
