Halve the cost of cup of tea and scone/tray bake anywhere

Options
Whenever you pop into a coffee shop for a cup of tea and a sit down with your friend, just ask for a pot of tea for one, not two, and ask for a spare cup. This way you will both have plenty of tea to drink between you, once you have topped the pot up with the hot water that comes along with the order. Thereby saving the price of one tea. ( £1.80 -£2 roughly).
Also, order only one scone, or largish tray bake between the 2 of you, and share it. Some traybakes are quite large and more than sufficient for just one person. This also helps control your calorie intake, very important! You still both get to sit down and take a load off your feet, but all for 1/2 the price you would normally.
I have tried this in several places in England/Scotland/N.Ireland and every one of them has obliged without question, so I know it works. I have got over the initial embarrassment of asking for a spare cup, as everyone I have asked so far hasn't even batted an eyelid.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else does the same as this. It really works and saves £s.

I do this often when friends are ok with it.
