Are we to assume that you did indeed earn over the thresholds I quoted then for the occasion you paid tax? It does help other posters to get some feedback.
Sorry, I mean thanks in reference to your point about me not contacting HMRC.
I earn over the weekly threshold of £155 and so the monthly threshold.
I'm at work at the moment so I can't provide any figures (perhaps I should've mentioned that before
).
I misread the monthly figure as weekly
. Not a stimulating job you see :-) 0 -

The higlighted piece is why you are paying tax. Contact HMRC when you get your P60, they will either deduct it off future tax or send out a check, will depend on your employment status.0 -

The thing is, I didn't receive a P60. I started my current job at the start of this tax year. And I left my previous job several weeks before the end of the last tax year.
And I didn't sign on in between.0 -

Spadoosh is referring to when you get your P60 at the end of the current tax year. You will not receive this until around May 2013 and that is when you can apply for any rebate due.
You are currently being taxed correctly so there is no problem.0 -
When this job ends what happens next.
your current employer will give you a P45.
If you start a new job pass the P45 to new employer
If you claim Jobseekers pass the P45 to Jobcentre. If there is any refund of tax due (taking into account JSA) they will issue it at the end of the claim.
If you do not intend working again or claim benefits before 6 April. Or if you intend working again but do not do so (or claim benefit) for at least 4 weeks search HMRC website for in-year repayments P50.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
