Because of all the damp weather my lawn is looking a mess and needs aerated and as it it only a small lawn I was thinking of getting one of these

to aerate my lawn.
One of my neighbours paid a company to look after their, a lot larger than mine, lawn and after a few weeks it is looking a lot better than mine and basically all the company did was run a motorised aerator over the lawn then scarify it then feed it.
Anyone have one and is it up to the job?

It looks hard work. I suppose for a small lawn it might work well. I have a 60 foot by 60 foot garden. I bought some spiked sandals, which you strap on over your shoes, and then you walk around the garden, looking like a right 'nana, aerating it. It seemed to work quite well on mine. My lawn was atrocious, so I raked it, aerated it, and then fed it. A few months later, it is looking much better. I think it will take a few years to recover properly.
The sandals came from ebay. You assemble them yourself which is a pain, but not too hard, and you have to adjust the straps correctly otherwise they fall off. If you have small feet, you might need to wear some walking boots when using the sandals, as the sandals are quite wide.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
