Be careful which slug pellets you buy, you could be killing the birds as well.
i buy wildlife friendly ones because I am lazy and want the wildlife to do their jobFreedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

The straw helps keep moisture in the soil, suppresses weeds and slugs and snails don't like it as its scratchy and spiky:D
ya but its a nice little sleep spot for them, especially in this rain
the main purpose of the straw is to prevent earth contact, slugs have climbed 6 feet up my vertical walls, up two flights of my stairs, they have no probs crossing some strawFreedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

i've just bought beer n put it in a tub by the strawberries so will let you know if it works.tried copper tape and made no difference, after all the rain it peeled off too.i did see somewhere that sandpaper they won't cross so i'm tempted to glue that round the sides of the pot, where the rain can't get it obviously0

try to encourage Thrushes to nest in your garden, I feed mine all year and as my reward they eat the slugs and snails:cool: Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.
Sometimes age just shows up all by itself
In the end, it's not the years in your life
that count....it's the life in your years
