Saving abroad

Hi all,
we have a Turkish Property in Fethiye. We have a tax number but so far have not used our accounts at Garanti Bank.

HSBC are offering from GFethiye branch a capital protected saving scheme that locks your money for 12 months giving 13-14% interest.
Seems attracxtive and HSBC are a world bank. We are lifelong HSBC customeres in the UK.
Are there pitfalls?
Does anyone have any experience of this at all please?

    a capital protected saving scheme

    What exactly does that mean?
    Protected from capital loss? Bankruptcy?

Is the 13%-14% dependent on anything e.g. any stck amrket index.

    What about currency fluctuation?
Is your current money in Sterling?
If so you could lose out if the exchange rate works against you.
