TRAVELEX Cash Passort Globe

Hi
Travelling to India shortly and cant take in any Rupees into country

Need to spend on food etc when there and minor trinkets only!
Planning around £600 spending money (all hotels and travel prebooked on credit card)

so my questions are ....

a) is this Cash Passport (Globe) the best way to load money onto a card to use at ATM's once there to get out local currency

b) cannot see which ATM's are free to use it at - Travelex dont charge but they said some ATM's do so how can i find that out?

i cannot see Martin referring to it anywhere and not sure WHY not?!

thanks :j

I've been to India three times in the last 2 years and to be honest just use my debit card & take the hit.

I had a CAN$ Cash Passport last year and found that they charged me an up front fee for loading it with my debit card so at the end of the day I din't think it worked out any cheaper than if I'd just used by debit card in local ATMs.

You'll also get hit for a non-useage fee in due course if you don't close the card once you get back.
    Ethical moneysaver
  • Does anyone know how you find out what charges the ATM machines make for these cards as Travelex don't charge (so they say!) for withdrawals but it depends on the ATM used they said - where can i find this out?

We got charged I think it was 2 euros last month for withdrawing on the card by Travelex not the atm

On their website it says under charges:

Usage fee (for ATM* withdrawals and purchases not in British pounds) 1.49% of the value
Usage fee (for ATM* withdrawals and purchases in British pounds) 99p

It says their cash passport currency card has free ATM withdraws.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

The Cash Passport Globe is a very good card to travel with, only bettered by the Halifax Clarity Credit Card and Metrobank Debit Card.

Travelex charge you no fees to withdraw cash, to load the card or anything else. Only the simple 1.49% transaction fee.(Or 99p flat fee if used in the UK)

Don't whatever you do purchase a Travelex Currency card, as these are far worse value for money. Also this works out much better than buying cash at the bureau de change.

    It all boils down to:
Good credit rating and income, plus not going away for at least 8 weeks then Halifax Clarity.
Willing to change bank, plus have an acceptable income and credit rating then Metrobank
Going on holiday shortly, want a travel account separate to your normal everyday bank accounts, can't get the other cards? Any of these go for the Travelex Cash Passport Globe.

I can personally recommend the Travelex Cash Passport Globe.

(PS- this thread would be best in the travel section- I think the mods might move it)
