My friend has asked me to put some albums on a ipod but i just don't have a clue how to do it so im hoping someone could tell me how to do this. I have put the albums from the usb onto my computer and then downloaded itunes and i have tried to press sync but this puts all the songs from my compter to the ipod but i don't want to do this so i was wondering if i could just add the albums my friend wants.

Depends. If they only want the albums you have then create a playlist for them and only sync that.
If they want to add your albums to what they already have, then you need to use disk mode, but as I have an Ipod classic and you may not have, we need more detail on what type it is.0 -
If you have the albums on a USB stick, give your friend the USB stick, get them to copy the albums to a folder on their PC and then use the Add Folder to Library option in iTunes.
If you Sync the iPod as a whole to your library, it will wipe everything they've got on the iPod at the moment, and leave it with just the albums you're adding.
If you don't have any idea how to do this, why did you agree to do it in the first place? You've downloaded a program that you seem to have no use for, other than for loading your friend's iPod, and spending your time when they're away doing something more productive...... I think you're being way too obliging.....0 -
It's a ipod nano but i don't know what model/version it is but it's the size of a man's watch. They only want the songs that are on the usb adapter so how would i sync them. googler i thought it would be easy to do like an mp3 player.0

The easiest way is always bypassed (I don't know if people even realise you can do this)
Open itunes and ensure you are looking at the 'music library' section. Open the folder that all the albums/songs are in. Highlight them, left click (keep your finger down) and drag into itunes. That will transfer in.0 -
Get the owner to Sync his or her own iPod.
Give them the memory stick to do this with.
The way this is shaping up, you'll end up deleting what's on there if the Pod is set to Automatically Sync (the default setting).0 -

googler my mate cannot sync the ipod himself as they are waiting to have there computer fixed so he asked me to do it as he wants the ipod for his daughter when they go on holiday in 2 weeks time. There is no songs on the ipod at the moment so there is no worry about deleting things, but if i did delete anything im not going to lose a nights sleep of deleting justin bieber.0 -
Does the iPod have anything on it at the moment?
The "problem" is that an iPod can only synch with one computer at a time. To synch to another one it must first wipe everything that it is on it first.
There are third party pieces of software that will allow you to download everything (possibly not playlists) from the iPod first, you'd then need to add these to your iTunes library and then synch the iPod adding back the old songs and then the new songs too.
There could be third party applications that will allow you to directly add songs without using iTunes but it has been a long time since I either tried to do these sorts of things or had a Windows PC to know how things have developed0 -
Ah, the interface from hell that is iTunes. All other players have a simple drag and drop option.
Have a look here for alternatives to iTunes.
I haven't used it (I don't have an iThing) but I often see Copytrans recommended in internet forums.

I've given up using iTunes and now use http://www.floola.com/home/
Very nice tool and won't wipe your ipod if you use it on a pc with itunes already on it0 -

Sorry, you have to sync after that. Assuming you have the ipod plugged into the pc, you will have an extra tab on the left with the name of the ipod. Click that, then you will see 'sync now' on the right at the bottom, this basically adds any changes to the ipod.0
