Ford Dealership Problem :(

hi money saving folks, if any one could advise me on this issue it would be a great help.

My ford 2003 (49,000 miles) fiesta was overheating so i brought it to a local ford dealer knowing it would be expensive but just wanted it fixed. They say they replaced the water pump + some more parts and it was fixed.. i payed them £435 on a credit card and all was well.

200 miles and about three weeks later the car overheats again so i bring it back to them. They keep it for 5 days then call me saying they don't know what the problem is but they would have to take the cylinder head off and charge me another £600 to get any further or i can have the broken car back for £89 cos they replaced some pipes. sigh.

the car isn't really worth all this so im not paying them £600 i would rather strip it down myself or sell it as scrap.

I asked them if they would trade it in and one of the garage workers mates called me and offered me £100 quid for the car. !!!!!!!

as the original £435 "fix" never really fixed anything would i be entitled to a refund? im trying to find there terms and conditions but cant.

please advise!

thanks

Paul

None of this is with get you car sorted by could act as a potential lever when discussing the cost of work that failed to fix the problem.

When you try and haggle with the garage at some point if you want to get shirty with them you may want to mention that they have breached the DPA because they have allowed a third party access to your personal data. If they say '!!!!!!' then I would ask to speak to their 'Data Controller', this is the person within an organisation responsible for complying with the DPA. If they again say '!!!!!!' then tell them you are reporting them to the Information Commisioners Office for failing to have a Data Controller and for breaching the DPA.

first of all did you give them authority to replace anything on the car this time round. or did you simply say it overheating again try and find the problem then let me know.

if so refuse to pay for the pipes they replaced as they had no authorisation from you to do so.

if they come back with you dropped it off for us to fix, say no i dropped it off for you to find out why your last fix didnt work and investigate the problem and contact me, not replace things willy nilly and charge me for the privi' so either take it off and put my old one on or if you have disposed or damaged my old one waiver this pipe charge and leave it in there.

compression test will tell them if there a cylinder head leak or a sniff test so its B0ll0xs that they need to remove the head to find out more if the headgasket is gone. they know you know nothing about cars and taking you for a ride.

and for the sheer cheek of a grease monkey offering £100 for it, tell them your offended and who gave him authorisation to contact you with such offer! and you swich to speak to the manager about DPA as above!.

So the garage sells another car and the workers mate gets a nice favour.....

Sounds like they're taking the p1ss. Take your car elsewhere and warn other people to stay away from the place.
