house insurance on exchange q.query

Hi
We are exchanging tomorrow, we have mortgage and building/contents insurance with C&G, it said on the mortgage offer that the insurance was with them, the solicitor told me to ensure that this was in place for exchange, when I phoned the broker, he said they dont send out the policy documents until completion, but it would be backdated to the exchange date??, does this sound right, im worried now!

No. The policy should be started on exchange, as you are responsible for the mortgage from exchange, and you should get policy documents within a week. Call the insurer yourself and make sure the policy is started.0
