South devon with a 14 year old and gran

i am taking my son a 14 year old with my mum (shes in a wheelchair) to south devon in the summer holidays (4th august for a week)
I am looking for things for my son to do he is already doing segway rally and kayaking i am just looking for 1 more thing to treat him to (we always do a sort of half and half holiday, half for him and the other for all of us)
i was thinking about a driving lesson (he had one for his birthday young drivers it was really good) but i cannot find one in south devon that teaches 14 year olds
he is thinking about quad biking but he would prfer to do driving
or have you any other ideas i have asked him about paintballing and laser but he doesnt fancy doing this by himself and i asked about canoeing but got told "mum im already doing kayaking how much more do you want me to do)

Also i am looking for a nice day out wandering around shops and other things to see but not like exeter which is a big town (a bit like bristol where im from) so would like something different maybe a nice beach town or harbour etc but it cannot be too hilly as i will have my mum in a wheelchair

any help would be much appreciated
Thankyou:j

How about teignmouth for a day out.

Theres shopping, the sea front which has a great park with teenage and younger kids park and a skate park if your son likes stakeboarding. Sea front is all flat.

Also Paignton is nice. Shops are on a level surface so is the sea front and pier. Could do the Zoo but it is on a bit of a hill.

River dart country park is good. They have loads of different activities avaliable for kids

    Hope this helps.

    Paignton for the steam trains.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

"House of Marbles" at Bovey Tracy. Well worth a visit.

  • thanks for the replies, we have been to paignton and liked it so may well go back there , just fancied a change ( we go to the same place each year so probably done it all!!)
i think he maybe a bit old now for marbles, i did take him there when he was younger but i shall ask him and see what he says
nope my son cannot skateboard , just think of a lanky kid (6ft) who hasnt "grown" into the size of his body, very awkward lol no co-ordination at all
    thanks for your replies
