Nationwide "free" travel insurance

This so called free travel insurance with a flex account is laughable. I have a very minor medical condition for which I am charged an extra £3.00 by my usual provider. The extra I was asked for when I phoned to register this made the insurance dearer than paying the whole premium on my normal travel insurance for both me and my partner. Nationwide told me I had to contact the insurance company, they told me I had to contact Nationwide. It is now with the Ombudsman.
If you are relying on this insurance check if you have any medical issues or you may find yourself uninsured, and complain if the extra you are charged is unresonable.

I don't think the FOS will be able to rule on premium prices.0

Well, they have seen the preliminary papers and have agreed to look into the case. It is not the premiums I have complained about. It is the fact that Nationwide are promoting something which actually costs their clients more than is fair and is basically a con to encourage people to open flex accounts.0

Let us know how you get on please.
Thanks for making me aware. I have always been somewhat supicious of the quality of the free products and value of these account, but also regarded Nationwide as one of more ethical banks.0 -
It may be a long wait. Because of the PPI workload the current time scale is three months.0

Its a lot longer than 3 months... currently have 3 cases with the ombudsman which were all accepted between sept and nov last year and still in the queue for an adjudicator0
