Tv/DVD player combo stopped reading DVDs

Hi, said TV is out of warranty but not old, never had a problem with DVDs, but became unable to read them last night. Tried a few different ones, so it's not the disc.
Is there any way of cleaning reading head? Am old enough to remember cleaning tapes for cassette recorders:rotfl:
Any advice much appreciated

It's a Technika (Tesco brand), if this helps, 2or 3 years old.

Hi,

I've also got a Technika TV (22-inch I believe). Purchased almost four years ago as a gift for my 21st birthday. The DVD player died within a couple of months, and I was never able to fix it. I'm interested if anyone comes up with a solution. I purchased a head-cleaning DVD and though it works on all other devices this TV doesn't appear to read them the same.

Oddly enough, I bought a Technika DVD cleaner disc from Tesco for 50p on offer this week - reads ok in my non-Technika DVD players. Would optimistically like to think it'd work in a same brand player....

I suppose your DVD player was working before you used it, Flash? Anyway, thanks for the advice, at least I know what to look for now, it's worth a 50p investment.
