Age UK DD out of my bank?

Does anyone know why I would have a £10.50 debit taken out of my bank account on my statement by Age UK? I've never noticed it before and I'm worried someone is using my card without my permission.
Any help is welcome.

If it is a DD it is not necessarily your card, all they need is your account number and your name. You can easily get it reversed by your bank.0 -
It might be a test transaction ahead of a bigger fraud.
Or maybe you're the generous charitable type and agreed to the payment.
Or maybe somebody made a mistake somewhere.0 -
£10.50 is a strange amount for a donation, but it's an even stranger amount for a fraud. Looks more like either a purchase of some kind or an automatic subscription renewal. Did you pay a similar amount to anybody about a year ago?
Age UK is a fairly new thing, formed by merging Help The Aged and Age Concern."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
Have you been in any Age UK charity shops in the recent past? If not and you have not signed any paperwork, then it could be possible that somebody has indeed cloned your card, so dispute the transaction pronto. Probably best to cancel card and get new one issued. They can now tell from the chip if it was your card that got used in the transaction that you are disputing so DO NOT chop card up for the time being, even if the bank tell you to. All debits via machines (ATMS/Chip pads in shops) are recorded on card with unique identifier, so an odd one like that will show up as different.Does anyone know why I would have a £10.50 debit taken out of my bank account on my statement by Age UK? (Of course you might have signed a gift aide authority which you forgot about).0 -
Hello there Ash88uk, I'd say the best thing to do would be to give the Age UK customer services team a quick call just to check what's gone on there: 0800 169 87 87. They'll be happy to help.
Self disclosure: I happen to work at Age UK, although not in customer services :-)0
