Poor credit history but new job requires card.

Nice idea. I've worked for some big companies in an expensed role and the norm is to submit expenses claims and be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses usually on pay day. To be honest this suits me just fine as I use an Egg money card and get 1% cashback on everything I spend
In response to the OP I have a Vanquis card (try and get one through Quidco or similar, this being the only reason I applied to get the £20 cashback from Quidco.)
The Vanquis billing cycle, for me at least, resulted in the statement arriving at the start of the month for the previous months usage which normally had to be settled by the end of the month. So long as you pay off the entire balance, which hopefully shouldn't be a problem as you will have been reimbursed for the expenses on it, you won't incur any interest."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -

Any company that won't do this doesn't have a sound business plan. The moment you start mixing business and personal finances it all becomes uncontrollable. You can't have an employee failing to do their job because of personal circumstances.
Another one I question is when companies say, "Must have own transport." You what!! If you actually need a car for work then they supply one or have a full blown car allowance in place.
Any company that won't do either of the above is cutting corners. There are also messy tax muddles to get into too. It's the same old story of them trying to get as much out of you as they can. The business should be there because it's viable and a sound money generating venture. If the credit card and car issues arise then they're not as sound as they make out.
Sorry, just had to join the site to reply to this. It's just where I work you have to have your own car, pay for parking, pay for petrol and then claim back a % of petrol costs at the end of the month (to be paid the following month). Guess who I work for? NHS - district nursing service. :rotfl:0 -

And a company car means you pay tax yourself (pre-income tax is a con too as it's calculated from the percentage band anyway).0 -
hi vanquis is your best bet and if they say no ,a cashplus prepaid mastercard is a decent option.
i have to use this for petrol and get it back the next month.
of course you have to fund the card to use it but thats easy to do.
hope you have got it sorted out.0
