Hi, probably the wrong board so apologies in advance
My son has just accidently thrown an entire plate of spaghetti bolognaise onto an off-white carpet.
What's the best way to remove the stain?

I believe white wine is meant to help lift stains. Thats what my folks always use to use anyway. Maybe they were just quirky alcoholics though.
God what a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted fast. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
Vanish foam spray is good, l think it'll take repeated attempts and even then never be perfect, tomato based sauce stains are a killer to remove.

Google stain removal for non-washable fabrics. The culprits are going to be the tomato and fat from the meat and might need different solutions. Persevere but start now - stains are easier to remove the quicker you deal with them."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

You could spill some more in random patches to make it looked patterned ?
If that doenst appeal there is a good stain remover I got from homebase. you spray it on and it fizzes and the stain somehow vanishes without the need for wiping.0 -
Whatever you do, don't rub it too much because even if it all comes out, the carpet will be ruined in that spot! Good luck! Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0

We have biege carpets and have found the best thing for them is a vax carpet machine ,this one

Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
I would try not to use any soapy sprays - the tomato might be removed but dirt will always stick to that spot afterwards!
Try and 'lift' it.. use water and paper towels, put some heavy books on top to lift the stain out. Numerous attempts might be needed!£608.98

In desperation, after my very elderly, only semi continent female cat had several attacks of diarrhoea (sorry, too much information) I resorted to 'Ace' laundry bleach' on a cream berber carpet and it did remove the stains. It also worked brilliantly when my cats knocked over a handtied flower arrangement (the ones with a bubble of water in a bag?) one night and the water took the dye out of the red ribbons and left a huge stain on the cream carpet. Have a go on a little spot first.0

If the carpet is made of man-made fibres you might be lucky and the stain won't have penetrated into it. Glycerin is supposed to be good for getting rid of tomato stains.
Failing that you might have to just put a nice rug or something over the tomatoey stains..0 -
