Cleaning wax / or cheap ear plugs

I go through a lot of ear plugs because of my job.
I was wondering, when the wax gets dirty perhaps there's a way of cleaning them?
Alternatively, perhaps there's a way to make ear plugs on the cheap?

Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

I know it's not very OS but you could buy very cheap ear plugs - I bought some on ebay recently (£1.20 inc P&P for 10 pairs) - and I'm very happy with them. They are just as good as the pack of 4 pairs of ear plugs I bought from my local chemist for £4!. The same seller (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/UNITED-SAFETY-LTD) will sell 200 pairs for £180
