Is there a time limit to claiming PPI.

I have just sent a SAR letter to my bank and they have sent me back information concerning one of my loans. However, they are stating "due to the passage of time since closure, we regret we are unable to supply any previous loan documentation as paperwork has been destroyed in accordance with the fifth data protection principle."

Does this mean the end of the road for my potential claim or is there anything else I can do?

This loan must have been closed longer than the date that the bank keep info for.
With the other loans, were they consolidated into the next one? if so, it is possible that the early settlement amount of the PPI from the one they cannot find will show on the second loan in the chain.

Do you have any info regarding this loan at all and what year was this taken out and paid off?.

I am afraid I do not recall the exact date of the loan but it must be over 15 years ago now. The two loans were completely separate and some time apart so were definitely not consolidated.

I hold no paperwork at all but know they definitely added PPI to the loan.

Not sure whether I can do anything about it or whether I should accept defeat on this one.
