But surely you would only do the 1 intensive stint, then when you were ready for the test, as you were, reduce it to weekly lessons rather than the continued high expense?? :money:

didnt make any sense to me either

Yeah, thats pretty much whats happened, sorry for not being clear:

The first 40 hours happened in the space of 2 weeks (Or just over)
When it became clear I was struggling, instructor and I moved the test back and ive since been doing hours here and there

So you recomend an intensive course even though it didnt work for you.

It depends on the person, an average joe/jane I think would be OK with an intensive course, but some people just take a LOT longer (Like me) but I havent done any private practice

Not sure how much an intensive course is but as I said earlier my son is almost ready after 12 hours at £23 an hour, so if he he had done an intensive course it would have been a waste of money, i stll maintain doing weekly lessons is the best way to go whatever the cost.

PS he hasnt done any other practice either before or during the time he has been having lessons

I'm sure it is, I still wouldn't think that say 3 or 4 hours in the driving seat is a good idea for a learner, too easy to make a mistake early in the day and have it affecting your performance the rest of the day.

You also need time to take it all in, think over what went wrong, (it always does), and how to do better next lesson.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Do whatever suits you best. When I learnt to drive, I was driving something everyday with L plates on. (Usually a delivery truck.) Weekly lessons you can spend half the time getting back up to were you finished the week before. My daughter had an hour a week, but went out with me in her car every day. So it's different for everyone
    Good luck!
