Next Card. Charged twice??

in Credit cards
My wife has a Next store card which she has run up a rolling balance on. We are now working at paying it off and got it down to a reasonable amount last month.
She needed to buy some clothes for a funeral which she did on line and instead of putting it onto the Next card and increasing the balance again, paid the bill direct with her Capital one credit card.
When the new Next statement arrived, the items had been added to her account, with a subsequent "service charge" which equates to an interest charge.
The Cap one statement arrived also clearly showing the items paid for direct.
Originally we thought we had been charged twice but In effect Next had taken the credit card payment to offset the rolling balance on the account but taken the opportunity to add an extra "service charge"
Is this correct? It seems to me that we are potentially paying interest twice on the purchase, once with next and once with Cap one. Surely if she paid direct with her CC that should not affect the account??

if you have an account and you make a payment the way it works is thay will take the payment from your account then add the transaction to it....just how they work when you have an account with a balance.5 kids..1 hubby...1 dog..3 rabbits and a goldfish...yep ours is a Madhouse
