in Credit cards
Morning All
I was wondering if someone could help me.
I took out a Debt Relief order in 2011 and all my debts were written off in may of this year.
I am slowly trying to build my credit rating however i am still getting refused for credit cards that are for people with a poor credit history and debt.
I was wondering if someone could advise me on this please.

Who have you tried?
It may be you need to give it a little longer. Lenders will want to feel they have a fighting chance of getting their money back if they lend to you again.0 -
hi there
i have tired Vanquis, capital one classic.
I was told by national help debtline that it would be a good idea to get a credit card to help build my credit file again.
also all the debts that have been written off some of the compaines like wonga have left a print on my credit file saying - default even though the debt has been cleared.
i have asked them to removed it but they have refused.
thanks all

They don't have to remove the defaults - they stay on there for six years. The defaults can be marked as 'satisfied' which is better, but the report is an accurate reflection of how you handled credit for future lenders to review, therefore the defaults are valid information.
zx81 is right, give it a little more time. You have barely let the dust settle, so why not go without credit for a while, and show that you can manage your finances without it.
Good luck

Just wondered, would it worthwhile applying for one of the cards you have to put a deposit upfront for. Not ideal in credit terms but would start to build a history at least.0

If refused for credit cards have you got some other form of financial responsibility you can show ie a phone contract, contracts to other companies you havent defaulted on. Just paying those and showing you're now responsible will go some way to do it.
It will take a long time for your credit to be ok again but there are small steps you can take.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0
