Pushchair spares

I have a travel system that I bought from mothercare about 4 and a half years ago. A part of the wheel assembly has broken, and mothercare say they don't make the model (Atlan TS) any more. So they are not producing any spares.

So now the whole pushchair is apparently unusable. As well as the money, I hate sending stuff to landfill in an otherwise usable state .

I just thought I'd see if anyone had any thoughts on getting hold of spares for obsolete pushchairs.

Thanks,
waterbaby

Have you tried just googling? I know I was looking for a spare wheel for my pushchair recently and there seemed to be a fair few pushchair parts places about... or even I guess looking on somewhere like ebay or freecycle for one with a manky seat or something making it less sellable that you could plunder for the part you need?

I second trying Ebay for spares. If it's a cheaper type of pushchair then you'll probably have to gut a broken/spares-only model for the parts you need. If it's a high end more expensive pushchair then you may be able to find spare parts as standalone items.

Quite a lot of things are actually sold on Ebay advertised as "broken" or "suitable for spares" and the like.

I had looked on the internet, but specifically for standalone spare parts. I will try the route of ebay / other old pushchairs.

I just looked on ebay. There's the one listing for at Atlan - at £80 - which I'm guessing is a bit top dollar for spares!

You could try similar models - sometimes the mechanisms are the same despite the model being slightly different. Although how you'd ascertain this, I'm not sure...

Actually, I've just had a thought... I do believe that Mothercare pushchairs are made by Graco...? It's been a long time since I was last shopping for strollers but I seem to remember that the Mothercare travel systems were the same as the Graco travel systems. Don't know about all their strollers/pushchairs but maybe someone who's more recently been stroller shopping can verify? Might be easier to get hold of Graco branded spare parts.

I did wonder about the actual manufacturer of their branded products.

Freecycle might be worth a (very) long shot - just in case someone's done something like put theirs in the shed, the seat bit's gone all mildewy so it's useless - but you could nick the wheels off it (propping it up on bricks after you've done it would be amusing but is optional).

Depends how it's broken of course but if you have an engineering company near you they may be able to repair it.

We've all sorts of stuff in our workshop...

    Happy moneysaving all.
