Of cause it wouldnt be the first time a call centre agent makes a mistake
Indeed, it seems you have been misinformed. Chargecards have the exposure limit, which is really no different from a credit limit but they tend to let more emergency transactions through and the exposure limit changes all the time.
People cannot carry a balance on a charge card, so they could only spend so much before it needs to be paid.
Charge cards are normally easier to get and the fact you pay upfront for the card tells Amex that your not likely to A. Be a fraudster and B. Be desperate for credit.0 -
Yes, newbie here, I have just got the Amex gold card and they work
Out your credit limit based on your first three months spend , but do say if you need to make a bigger purchase then just to phone them.
Amex gold card also get 22k points for spending £1k in first three months when referred by another person with a gold card . Which also means once you have got the card refer away ( needless to say a few family and friends are now signing up) :jJ0 -
Should have said that the referrer gets 12k points for every successful referral0

One of the main things I love about Amex is the fact its just about the only card I have that doesn't seem to get blocked abroad the second I use. Every other company I tell and it still gets blocked. My Amex I don't even bother. Just spent about 4000 dollars in the US and no questions asked.0
