If you were expecting to get paid today (31st March) you may not be...

If your company banks with Barclays and you were expecting to get paid today then you probably won't be. I've just heard they have had a huge systems failure and estimate 1 million people won't get their money.

I don't know the details but I guess it would affect all Barclays BACS payments today, not just salaries.

Wonder if this is connected with Barclays ATMs failing on Easter Sunday to allow withdrawals - due to clocks moving forward.

They are already taking a lot of flak for the weekend ATM network crash, now if this also happens, they're going to lose a lot of stock with their account holders...

Serves them right - what with their extortionate credit card charges, and the pitifully low credit limits they give out to their card holders.

Just before Easter, Barclays said a computer fault left employees of 20,000 UK companies without their monthly pay. The bank, the UK's third biggest by assets, was unable to pinpoint the cause of the error in its systems.

MARCH 28, 2002 (COMPUTERWORLD) - The 20,000 business customers of Barclays Bank PLC affected by a computer glitch should have access to their funds sometime over the weekend, although their balances won't show any electronic deposits made on Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the London-based bank said today.
