A friend of mine has sadly died he has always stated that he was in the RAF, however some members of his close family dispute this. I have his date of birth where do i start in finding wether he was/wasnt
etc. Certainly gonna miss him He recently stated that when they cleared his house out they would find his uniform hung up as yet nobody has been to the house

I would imagine if he was keen enough to keep his uniform then he probably kept his RAF paperwork as well. Perhaps it will come to light when his property is cleared..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
It is possible, but not cheap to access the service record of someone who has died.
This link explains it.

You could try putting his name and age on one of the RAF forums like http://rafforum.activeboard.com/f517942/looking-for/0

To be absolutely sure of finding the right man you would need his service record or discharge papers. That will confirm which branch of the service he was in and what his service number was. The service number on its own would be enough as it would tell an informed person what arm he was with.0
