Leaving natwest for RBS. Advice?

Hi,

I've been really badly treated throughout the whole natwest fiasco. Are RBS any good?

RBS are the parent company of Natwest ! What affected Natwest also affected RBS customers.

RBS actually came through the crisis a little better. The evidence presented on other forums suggests that RBS accounts run on a separate, dedicated system. I suppose it's "logical" for Royal Bank of Scotland Group to run its "own" accounts on a separate system.

Although actually it's probably more to do with the old takeover of NatWest by RBS (where NatWest adopted RBS systems after years of using their own).

Yes it's a wind-up. Sailmakers has commented on the RBS/Nat West fiasco a few times,so he knows what the score is. He probably knows that (if he is in England/Wales) moving to RBS means moving to Santander.

I thought RBS adopted Nat West's systems

I had thought it was NatWest adopting RBS's systems, but only because it was foisted on them after the takeover. Also thought I read sometime/somewhere an opinion that RBS's was the inferior of the two, but could be mistaken about that.

Presumably RBS will ultimately have to change to the Santander system in E&W. Returning to the original question: Santander always seem to polarise opinions! We left them some time ago so can't comment on whether there's been an improvement.

I think RBS adopted Nat West's systems

The Tesco clubcard plus accounts were originally operated by Nat West before RBS acquired Nat West and the login consisted of DOB + digits

Tesco changed provider to RBS in 1997 . RBS acquired Natwest in 2000 and the Nat West login format continued and was adopted by RBS

You can think what you like but in the majority of cases you are wrong, NatWest accounts were migrated to RBS systems, I know because I was one of the many people responsible for doing the migration.
