Insurance/extended warranty Induction Hob

I had a new kitchen fitted 18 months ago. We opted for an induction hob - which we have been very happy with. As part of the incentive for opting for the hob, we qualified for a free set of pans (only certain pans work on an induction). I sent off the card to register the product and received my free set of pans back from them.

Last week the hob stopped working. We contacted the company in question and were told that they had no record of us registering our product. This cannot be true as we had received the pans!

Upon checking the internet, we found that this particular company had done this to quite a few people. After several calls, the kitchen installation company managed to pursuade the hob company to repair the item as it is still under the 2 year warranty.

My question is - are there any reliable companies that offer extended warranties or service plans for an induction hob? I do not really want to take one out with the hob company - given the problems they have caused me. We have some kind of service plan for the central heating and I wondered if there was something similar for the induction hob.

I had a De Detriech hob which was covered by their own extended warranty scheme at £16 annually. I almost had a new hob after they had tried virtually everything to solve the fault.
The extended warranty was then transferred to Motorway Direct plc who as yet do not offer hob cover. I can find cover with Domestic & General for £56 annually or strangely cheaper for £4.25 monthly but just thought I'd see if anyone else had encountered a similar problem.
Yes, I know extended warranties can be money down the drain but your view changes once you actually do have a problem.
