Internet Banking - FIRST TIMER

Hi,

I bank with Lloyds TSB and have done for a number of years, and I have just registered my details with them for Online Banking.

I currently have three accounts, Credit Card, Current & Savings.

I have a couple of questions and I hope that there are some other Lloyds customers on here who have experience with Internet Banking.

1. I registered last Friday, however I hav'nt heard anything from them. How does one obtain, (a) A User ID and (b) and Password?

2. I want to transfer GBP 5,000 from my savings account to a reletive who banks with Natwest. Will this be possible to do online or would I have to ring them or go into a branch?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

You'll be able to complete the transfer online providing you have an up to date telephone number on the account.

You'll need to have the sortcode and account number for the Natwest account, pop the details in and then the automated Lloyds system will phone you and ask for a 4-digit pin that will be displayed on screen when doing the transfer. Pop the pin number into the phone when prompted and the transfer will be authorised.

It won't go by 2-hour transfer though (at the max limit for that is £500) but it will go by next working day - up to a limit of £10k

LTSB have a £25,000 faster payment limit, I've sent instant payments over £500 with them.

The £500 was only when they were trialling the FP service, it then got changed to 10K and now 25K.

You can do the transfer online, but you won't be able to do it until Friday at the earliest, maybe even Saturday, as you are not allowed to transfer funds outside TSB for 7 days from registration. You can phone (assuming you setup phone banking) or visit a branch however if you want it done sooner. If you try before its possible, you'll be told to ring a number instead.

Seems I was wrong with the ceiling, that it is £25k - however the limit of £500 for the 'within 2 hours' is correct. Anything over £500 will not credit until the bank runs it's usual payment process.

Seems the phonebank has a limit of £10k per trans with Halifax which is where the confusion was - apologies.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? I thought it sounded like nonsense so I did a quick google for Lloyds Faster Payments, and as I expected any payment up to the £25K limit will be treated as a Single Immediate Payment and will be made within 2 hours.

Oddly enough, yes I do know what I'm talking about. Google away to your hearts content but LBG do not send payments over £500 to external accounts within 2 hours. They go via the usual bank run and thus next working day.

Not that it matters - but you could always check direct with Lloyds/Halifax should it really bother you that much. Ask the advisor to check on their internal info system to corroborate. For instance if you were to send £1k to a credit card via FP, the credit would show on the credit card as an authorisation within 2 hours but the funds would not clear until the bank run was made.

Then please do explain why I was able to send a £10,000 payment from my Halifax current account to my Tesco Internet Saver and it arrived within 10 minutes.

To answers the OPs question, once you are set up you can add a recipient/beneficiary/bill payment to your savings account or your current account (if your savings account can't). It should be pretty straight forward to send the money (the help section should have a step by step guide to follow).

AdamJK, I regularly send payments of £1500 between my LTSB and HSBC accounts. When's the last time you tried.... (ooops!)
