RIAS Insurance - Do they think we're stupid?

I applied for an online quote this afternoon for my home insurance with RIAS.
I am always super careful to check any box that says "don't contact me". As it happens, they were £150 odd more expensive than my renewal quote so there's no chance I will be uing them.
One hour later, my phone rings and there's a salesman on the phone from RIAS. I told him I'd checked the no contact box. He replies that he "knows nothing about that but that.." he was "..from their internet department and they'd noticed that my quote had not included all the discounts I qualified for."
Yeah, right. Do they think we're stupid?
Bearing in mind that they advertise to the over 50's do they think that older people will fall for this claptrap?
Slippery way to do business, in my opinion.

TBH Yes ........I think that people who give their phone numbers away when they don't want contact are a bit daft :-)0

Touch!.
A bit rich that you have to lie about your number though (it's a mandatory field) and what if you do decide to take the policy? Have you misrepresented if you have given a fake contact number?
Still slippery. I'm in my 50s and saw straight through the internet department rubbish. I'm not sure that my mother would have, though."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
I have both my car insurance and house Insurance with Rias (Aegis)
I was with the coop, Rias came up £50 less than Coop for my car,
fully comp, legal protection of £207
House insurance came up a whopping £80 less than the Coop at £165. The whole works, Accidental Damage and legal protection
I cant fault them and credit where its due.
OP, try ringing Aegis direct and get a quote.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
and what if you do decide to take the policy?
I generally use false details for quotes when I'm looking and real details when I'm actually buying.Have you misrepresented if you have given a fake contact number?
Not if it's only a quote.
Even for a contract it's not a material fact relevant to the contract generally, it's usually only for correspondence.
So no people don't get put in jail if they get one digit wrong :-)
The onyl case where it might be a material fact is phone insurance, but for home, car, travel insurance then your phone number is not directly relevant to the contract it's just for correspondence.0
