We had a mortgage with Northern Rock which was paid off 2010. When the mortgage was taken out in 1983 we had to have the bronze ins with it. We were not given the choice of shopping around to see if we could get cheaper one .For 27yrs we paid about £450 a year. This premium was added to the mortgage annually. We have never once made a claim on this insurance. Would we be able to put claim in for missold policy as we were not given choice to shop around. Which i know for a fact now could have saved us a fortune. This policy was for building contents .I think it was through Pinnacle but it was N. Rock taking the payments. Thanks in advance to any replies.:D

You have an amazing memory of something that happened for a few minutes nearly thirty years ago.
You could have cancelled it at any time, this would have been in your paperwork.
Dont think you have a leg to stand on to be honest after all this time.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

What makes you think you have to be given that option?Would we be able to put claim in for missold policy as we were not given choice to shop around.
No. There is and never has been any requirement to tell you that you can buy elsewhere. Chances are in 1983 you couldnt buy elsewhere as lenders used to insist on their product back then. The opening up to panels of insurers came later and the free for all we have today later still.
This is nearly 29 years ago and you are making a verbal allegation with no evidence to support it. It is way before regulation started and there doesnt actually appear to be any wrong doing.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
