Advice on what car to choose for a new driver?
My youngest son does adventure sports so he has mounds of kit to carry around with him. h
He needs a vehicle to carry all of his clobber around with him. Any suggestions as to what to get which has masses of space, very reliable but also low insurance for a 20 year old.
We are thinking of an estate car or van of some sort.
Originally we thought of maybe an old land rover. I had a look at auto trader but there does not seem to be that many for sale and the insurance might be too much for a new driver. But this would be the ideal type of vehicle.
Any suggestions?

To keep the insuance low, you will need a car with a small engine, which rules out most estate cars. Volvo estates have bags of room and go on forever, but the insurance is still likely to be prohibitive."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Mondeo's a good call too.
Has he only just passed his test? You need to get some quotes - I'm 20 and could insure all the above within reason, but then again I have 3 years NCD...0
