payment

I recently bought some ticket (real ones) and the paypal account says the amount was taken from my account on the 28th. On checking today there is no record yet of the payment coming out of my bank. How long do they take?

It should have been instant, are you sure you didn't already have a balanc ein you rpaypal account?

The only other thought is whether you have a credit card or somehting set up with paypal as well and it has been taken from there.

It can take 3 or more days to show on your account depending on how long they take to process your payments.

I wouldn't allow paypal to take the money out of your bank; you have no protection. At least with a credit card you do. Paypal sc**wing customers again....

    Why do you say that?

Using a debit card with Paypal is no different to using it to pay for goods anywhere else online

If you use a credit card when buying and the seller doesn't send the goods then at least you can use your credit card to do a chargeback against paypal (after trying to get them to do a refund). I have been 'had' twice by non-performing sellers and each time paypal found in my favour but wouldn't refund the money as each seller had no funds in their respective accounts. Paypal then closed the complaint and I was left over £100 out of pocket. I therefore got my credit card form to raise a chargeback against paypal. They did and I got my money back.

If I had used a direct debit with paypal I would have totally lost my money. Moral of the story? Although you have 'buyer' and 'seller' protection via paypal it is virtually impossible to adhere to the T&Cs they set in order to cover you. If you do there is still no way of ensuring you can recover your money. Thats why I use a credit card; it protects me and not PayPal.....

Also, I assumed that the OP had used the direct debit method for payment rather than the debit card method (debit card does not have a readily accessible chargeback facility)

it takes my bank, smile, a good few days to take the money out of my account.

i normally pay for goods out of my paypal balance, but if it's empty, it will first take a direct payment out of my bank account, or then use my credit card as backup. i have no real problem with this especially as i rarely buy items more than £10 on ebay (and even so this would normally be covered by my paypal balance) so although it would be annoying it wouldn't be the end of the world. i don't want them to use my credit card as i changed my surname in august last year and i still haven't managed to get paypal to update it so my credit card name is still wrong.

i use paypal a lot, but i really do hate it.
