Tread very carefully. For the 1st time....my score is 391 in the very poor range!!!! I knew it was bad but I didnt know it was that bad. Ive applied for a vanquis card to help build my credit, any other tips?:(
You've got two current accounts and you've taken out catalogue accounts and a loan in recent months. You've got no reason to think there's a problem with your credit.
One agency has given you a low rating. They've also told you everything they've got against your name. That rating is based entirely on that information right there, and they've told you how they arrived at it - the credit-hungry thing. End of story.
Your rating isn't based on any other accounts, or anything you did under previous names they don't know about, or any info held by another agency, or any errors. There isn't much you can do to improve it except keep making the payments. But you don't know that lenders will take the same dim view.
But if you keep filling forms in and attracting attention and somebody connects you with your previous names, they'll tie everything together and inform all your creditors and things may go downhill very fast. Lenders don't like surprises. Best to lay low."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
I should have added, one reason they do free offers is because people give them new information which they can use to link up previous identities."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be.
