ppi claim on joint loan

Hi
First time posting so please bear with me.....
My husband and i took out ppi on a loan we had some years ago, we since separated although are not divorced and i heard from him that he had claimed back the ppi on the loan and won the case. He received a cheque payable to both of us and obviously couldn't cash it as we no longer have a joint account. He said he was going to return the cheque and ask for two separate ones but refuses to tell me anything else and I've heard nothing for three months. Is it possible for him to cash a joint cheque without me knowing?
Any advice welcome.
Thanks

No bank should allow a customer to cash a joint cheque into a single account. So unless he has access to an account in both your names, it should be impossible to cash a joint cheque.

If the loan / PPI was in joint names, did the lender ask you to sign anything relating to the complaint before sending the cheque?

The answer is given in your question ;)

Why don't you ask the company for your part of the re-payment?
  • Thanks, Dr Squeeze, I thought he wouldn't be able to cash cheque. Don't know if he'd been able to cash it at somewhere like Cash Converters ? And no, haven't been asked to sign anything!

Wywth, thanks as well, that would be the obvious thing to do wouldn't it, only i don't know who husband claimed ppi from and he won't tell me!!

    Anymore suggestions anyone?
