My recently viewed items, apparently.

I've noticed in the past few days that when I go to ebay's main page, items have begun to appear in my recently viewed items which I havent actualy viewed, however when I log in they disappear.

I'm regularly checking my purchased items and my paypal account and so far there has been no suspicious activity on my account, but I was just wondering if this is happening to anyone else or should I be concerned?

The obvious answer is someone else using the computer in a not logged in state to view eBay items... Unless you are sure no one but you has access?
  • I've had this too on my work pc and home laptop, and only me can possibly access both-odd..

Hi, no, I am the sole user. But they are by no means high end items, just completely random stuff, with low-ish values that I would never look at.

I wouldn't worry about this - eBay tries its luck at pushing all sorts of random stuff. I recently found entirely Michael Jackson related items being pushed as recently viewed. I hadn't bought, sold or otherwise viewed any of it - or anything like it - and nobody had used the same computer for some time.

I think it's just marketing that is either under (or over) sophisticated and clearly missing wildly.

Yeah, eBay is a bit stupid like this. I think it goes on IP address, which is daft as I have at least 4 different IP addresses a day (keep changing them for surveys/daily clicks!). It always shows me stuff I've definitely not looked at and it always changes throughout the day.

I did once have a problem when I was looking on eBay for something for my OH's birthday, and he happened to be on eBay at the same time on his laptop, and he could see what I'd been looking at so it ruined the surprise a bit! We both have different accounts and don't share our laptops so the only way he could have seen that would be due to the IP address.

eBay are a bit stupid generally. I get emails recommending stuff for me that's the exact same thing I've already bought... I can understand if it's "oh, you bought those boots, maybe you'd like these boots too?" but seriously, how many microwaves or beds do they think I need?

Thanks everyone. Seems like its nothing to worry about, but having used ebay for years I'd never noticed it before!
