Broken glass shelf in fridge

I have broken the glass shelf in my fridge and wondering if there's a chance I can get a replacement and where from? Was hoping to avoid the manufacturer's if possible...
Has this happened to anyone else who can advise? Thanks in advance

The make and model of the fridge might help?0

I had this happen. Took the measurements to my local glass merchants / glaziers and they cut me a new one. £7. Bargain and took them about 5 mins.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

It's an Indesit and I'm unsure of what the model is (was here when we moved in to property over a year ago now). I was just wondering if it's possible to go to a shop to get replacement glass for any fridge, really?0

That happened to me and I repaired it with silver duct tape. The glass shelf was supported in slots on three sides so the tape just held the two broken pieces together.
It didn't look good but hey, it was inside the fridge.0 -
Nice idea, Avoriaz. But it's not a clean break, it's in several pieces. DH had thought of getting the tape to repair it but it's looking more like it's a replacement job.0

If you can find the model details, you can probably order a replacement shelf online. I've ordered parts for my oven and my fridge before. It'll probably cost a bit more than a local glazier, but it will fit properly and be a better long-term solution.Shrinking my mortgage!

I bought one online about 18 months ago.... £9.99 inc VAT. Then delivery was £2.95 ... it didn't look like the others, which were plastic and this one was glass, but it did fit and looked neater/cleaner so it wasn't too bad. I just googled the model/make to find the supplier and bought it from espares.co.uk0

How can it be a better long term solution. Don't think that fridge manufacturers have some special 'shelf' glass tucked away somewhere. They simply buy shelves pre cut to size from a glass manufacturer like pilkingtons which is no different to you getting one cut at your local glass merchants. A glass shelf is a glass shelf. They don't even use tempered or safety glass.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
