Hi - I have just had my barclay ins quote in for start april for 4 pounds more than I already pay (its 11pounds 07p atm) they want (15 pounds 91p in april). I have changed a couple of things (even lowered personal to 10,000 from 15,000 for valuables & had accidental added). So I have to start in april :
50k for contents (inc 10k for valuables)
accidental damage contents
personal 2,500
bikes 1,500 away from home & shed
legal of 50k
all for 15.91 pm - is this good?
Also on my additions + account I am covered for travel so I phoned to check but my hubby & ds1 have been excluded when I phoned today to ask why they would not give an explanation of why and told me that I could not pay extra for covering them - my hubby has sciatica and my son has asthma!! Is this usual for that to happen and where can I get them covered from??
As you can probably tell I am not very good with Insurance that is why I am asking for help any information would be appreciated - thanks ---- mel

Hi Mel
To check how competitive your barclays HI quote is I would suggest double checking the comparison sites ie confused.com. Once you have done that qheck again via quidco as you can get up to £120 cash back which makes a nice little earner
My parents recently had their renewal, did both of the above and managed to get a new policy with the same insurer for a couple of £ cheaper a month PLUS cashback on quidco!
As to travel insurance most standalone policies will cover DH and DS although you may have to call them for a personal quotation with their conditions taken into account.
Hope that helps.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang

thanks for replying - tried confused.com and found that 15.91 was cheapest - surely having a 3yrs no claims with them would decrease my payments not increase them!!! - not unless they have done this to cover the bank charge recoveries ??Comp wins 2013:160 finish quantum tabs, 2xtickets private screening of prisoners(Jake n Hugh 2)

When you do the Barclays quote - on one of the first screens it asks you how you pay for current insurance monthly or annually. Put in annually as if you put monthly it gives you a higher quote.
In my case it was about £10 difference but I only found that out after I had taken policy out.0 -
ok thanks will try it
