Car Insurance NCD

I have searched elsewhere but just want a definitive answer. Our car insurance is due for renewal, I am putting the quotes in my name with my wife as a named driver. I am not fronting the insurance as I am putting her down as the owner and main driver.
The policy only asks for my NCD, so does this mean that if my wife did crash then my NCD would be affected.
I do use the car but the wife is the main driver, however she only has 3 years NCD where I have 6 years.
Thanks for any advice.

You say you are putting her down as the owner, but IS she the owner?
Do you not both have your NCDs protected.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Yes the policyholders NCD (yours) would be affected, but with 6 years you can protect it.
Your wife would still have to declare it on quotes, but her NCD is seperate.however she only has 3 years NCD where I have 6 years.
The advantage of using yours is that you can protect it as well as it being cheaper, however be aware that your wife's will expire after 2 years (with the majority of companies) so if you think you might need 2 in future then it may be best to swap every year.
My husband and I share a car and we swap the policyholder each year.
Naturally you have to be honest (as you rightly say) about who is the main driver, owner etc. but in our case it can be either of us.0 -

Yes the V5 is in her name, hence why she is the named owner. I am protecting mine now, but hers was not protected at the time of a accident last September.Yes the policyholders NCD (yours) would be affected, but with 6 years you can protect it.

That is what we thought about doing as I had read about the 2 years expiry. Thanks for confirming what I thought, puts my mind at rest and at least means for once, we can beat the insurance companies!0 -
You did declare her accident on your new policy didn't you?
Also check that as a named driver if she has an accident is your protected no claims still valid?
Quick read of mine and it says young and inexperienced drivers are not protected and a higher excess applies.
And your not currently using the no claims on a policy already are you?
Do you have a car?
No claims less than 2 years old?
Lots of little pitfalls you need to check before parting with the cash.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Presumably you now only have 1 car?
Remember you can only use an "NCD" on a single policy at a time and so you cannot be using it on both your own car and hers (even if you are declaring her the owner and main driver).0 -

Yup accident has been declared, she had it last September. I'll check any policy regarding how it affects my no claims and no it is not in use elsewhere, we now only have the one car. Thanks for the help.0
