Husband sick wants to resign a bit complicated
Comments
-
I will follow this closely as I`m in the same situation, but my boss is my father..........
I suffered a nervous breakdown after months of silence, bullying from a staff member working all hours to keep business going.
All I got from father was when am I going back, not even how am I, haven`t heard from Mum or sister I worked with.
All I get is bullying to go back, I can`t due to my health ...... Its looking very bleak for me0 -

Why don't you start your own thread (click on new thread at the top of this forum) and give us some more details?
It gets very confusing when people 'tag on' to another thread - people start replying to the different questions!
I am sure people will be happy to try and help with your particular circumstances.0 -
Sorry OP, I see you have already psoted about this.
Perhaps you are thinking about if you have to resign from your job or if your dad dismisses you.
So, why don't you post on the Employment forum or go and see CAB for some advice?0 -
Thankyou all
Hubby is home from hospital now and he has a huge amount of healing still to do . he's worn out , totally exhausted tonight and talking makes him breathless so we will talk about what to do gradually over the next day or two and I'll try and get hold of CAB .I am journeying to a debt-free life.
Our estimated debt-free date is January 2040. I'm on a mission to bring that date closer!

OP - the one important question that no-one has yet asked: how long has your husband worked at the organisation? If he's not worked there a year, then there's nothing to be done.
It's not constructive dismissal (and you don't want to go down that route anyway); but if he has been dismissed already, and he has more than a year's service, then it is unfair dismissal. If he's not been dismissed then don't let him resign. If there is genuinely no role for a bookeeper, the employer should go down the redundancy route (which you can bet he won't).
Can I please suggest you post your original post on the employee section of redundancyforum.co.uk for the attention of SarEl, who's an employment barrister. She'll tell you you're legal rights - although, as ever, you should still get professional legal advice.
If you speak to ACAS at all, please be aware that their helpline staff are not legally trained, and their advice is hit and miss at best.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
I just thought I would pop back and update on developments - after further " discussion" my husbands boss has agreed to pay SSP
Hubby still doesn't intend to go back to work but he's signed off for 3 weeks and for now having a small amount of income helps hugely and will eek out the savings a bit . As hubbys health improves he's going to step up his efforts in finding something else and see what pans out - he's a bit reluctant ( to see the least) to do anything about the change of role thing yet but that might change as it gets closer to having to go back to work .I am journeying to a debt-free life.
